The Fort Leavenworth Cup
Circa 1840
This is a quality reproduction of an Army mess cup issued to soldiers stationed at forts and garrisons in the early to mid-nineteenth century. Fragments of this form are common archaeological finds on Civil War fort and encampment sites. This cup is based on one excavated from a privy in a second quarter nineteenth century context at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
